Day 15: Places to go in Texas - Hamilton Pool Preserve and things to do before you head there.

Day 15: Places to go in Texas - Hamilton Pool Preserve Read our blog to find out what happened and things to do before you head there.

So yesterday, we decided to pick one place on our bucket list of places to go in Texas. Since we moved here in 2015, I always wanted to go to Hamilton Pool Preserve coz it looks so awesome on all the photos I see. Told hubby and the kids that we have to drive an hour and a half to get there. Everybody agreed after I show them how cool it looked. Off we go without thinking that we need to do anything before we get there. To our dismay, this place is only good with "RESERVATIONS ONLY" with kids crying and fighting in the back this is not the sign I am wanting to see after driving that far. Why NO ONE told me that this is the case. So please before you head there (or in any place that requires driving for the whole family) make sure that you call first and see if this is open to public at that very day/hour and if so until what time it is open.

We are told that the Hamilton Pool Preserve is fully booked for the next two weeks (YES 2 weeks!). unfortunately, we don't have 2 weeks to wait for it to be available.

With that unfortunate event, we decided to go to a park a mile from Hamilton Pool Preserve. I honestly forgot the name but it is one of the Travis Park a mile or so from the fully booked park lol.

Payed $15 to get inside, with the scorching heat the river is dried in some areas. There is not much area that we can really hike with grumpy kids on our side.

I think $15 is too high for this coz we've been to different parks that is far better than this and we don't have to pay this much BUT seeing this two having fun despite what had happened is definitely worth it.

One of the coolest thing we experienced out there is that, there are so many baby fish on the river and when you stand on the shallow part they will come to you and eat the dead skins on your legs and foot. I know it is something available in some spas and here we got it for free (well nearly free since we payed $15 lol) We never had this so that was a new adventure that makes us laugh every time we talked about it.

If you end up being here and you love to go fishing, this is definitely a place to go. My little one was eating some crackers and some crumbs fell in the water and in few seconds there are so many fish trying to eat them.

All in all it was a great experience, told our little ones that sometimes things don't go the way you want them to be and you just have to enjoy the alternatives.
This is one of the million reasons why we love to travel coz we learned to adjust and enjoy whatever we have - no matter what, there is something good in every situation.

Thanks for being here.
